Kindred Edmonton Nursery and Pre-School

Our nursery team creates a warm inclusive environment where every child feels valued supported and encouraged to learn in their own way. In the Baby Room we focus on secure attachments early communication and physical development. In Pioneer Place we encourage curiosity independence problem-solving and learning through play. In Readiness Road we promote kindness confidence self-care skills and communication of wants and needs through each child's preferred method.

A key part of our ethos is supporting not only children but also their families. We provide a range of care and learning bags that families can borrow to help children understand new experiences and life events. These include bags such as Going to the Doctors and New Sibling which contain books resources and activities to encourage discussion and reduce anxiety. We also offer a lending library and story sets to extend learning into the home. These resources help families continue children's learning outside of nursery. Our goal is to work in partnership with families to provide every child with the care support and enriching experiences needed for them to thrive.

Our settling in process begins with a one-hour session where parents and carers share information about their child through the All About Me form and meet the nursery team, including their child's key person. This provides an opportunity to begin building strong relationships and ensures we have a good understanding of each child's individual needs, interests and routines. Following this, children attend two settling-in sessions of approximately two and a half hours each, giving them time to become familiar with the environment, staff and daily routines. Children attending a morning session stay for lunch, while those attending an afternoon session stay for tea.

We recognise that every child is unique, so our process can be adapted to suit individual needs, helping each child feel happy, safe and secure as they start their nursery journey.

We build strong relationships with parents by creating regular opportunities for them to be involved in nursery life, including Stay and Play sessions, graduations, family events and wider community activities. We understand that every family is unique, so we take the time to get to know them, maintain open communication and work in partnership to support both the child and their family.

We also provide resources such as learning bags, story sacks and a lending library to help continue learning at home and support families with key milestones and experiences. By offering inclusive opportunities and practical support, we aim to build trusting relationships, help families feel part of our nursery community, and ensure every child has access to rich learning experiences both in nursery and at home.

We work closely with local schools to help children feel confident and excited about starting school. Teachers visit the nursery to meet the children and children become familiar with their new school through photographs and discussions about what school will be like.

We focus on developing the key skills children need for their next step including independence, confidence and self-care. Children practise putting on their coats shoes and uniforms managing their belongings and following daily routines. Our home corner is adapted into a school classroom which helps children understand what to expect and makes the transition to school feel familiar and positive.
