What makes Kindred West Bridgford unique?

At West Bridgford Nursery, we combine a warm, family-focused atmosphere with exceptional outdoor learning opportunities. Our experienced, long-standing team creates a home-from-home environment where children feel safe, valued and confident to explore.
Outdoor play is at the heart of nursery life. Each room has its own dedicated garden, providing regular free-flow access to the outdoors. Our extensive outdoor spaces include mud kitchens, sand play, wooden climbing equipment and a dedicated outdoor terrace for Pre-School children.
We are passionate about helping children develop practical life skills through hands-on experiences. Our popular Little Chefs Club gives children the opportunity to prepare food in our child-height kitchen, encouraging confidence, independence and healthy eating habits.
Located close to open green spaces and a neighbouring farm, children have unique opportunities to connect with nature and regularly observe horses nearby.

Kindred West Bridgford Nursery and Pre-School FAQs
What are the parking and access arrangements for drop-off and pick-up?
We aim to make drop-off and collection as smooth, secure and welcoming as possible for families. Access to the nursery is controlled through our secure entry system, and families can use the intercom system to directly call their child's room when arriving and collecting.
This room-based collection process allows practitioners to provide individual handovers and share updates about each child's day, learning and wellbeing. It also helps children transition comfortably between nursery and home while maintaining the security of the setting.
How do you build relationships with parents?
Building strong relationships with families is at the heart of everything we do. We believe children thrive when families and practitioners work closely together.
We take time to get to know every child and family individually, maintaining regular communication through daily conversations at drop-off and collection as well as through the Satchel app. These ongoing discussions allow us to share achievements, celebrate milestones and ensure each child receives consistent support both at nursery and at home.
Our open-door approach helps create trusting relationships and ensures families feel informed, valued and involved throughout their child's early years journey.
What links do you have with local schools to prepare my child for the next step?
Helping children develop the confidence and independence needed for school is an important part of our Pre-School experience. We place a strong emphasis on promoting self-care skills, healthy habits, communication and independence in preparation for the transition to primary school.
We have established links with local schools, including Lady Bay School, and support children through activities that encourage confidence, resilience and readiness for their next stage of learning. We maintain strong communication with local schools to help support a smooth transition. Our aim is for every child to leave us feeling confident, capable and excited about starting school.
What is the unique feel or ethos of your nursery team?
Our passionate, caring team works closely to ensure every child feels safe, valued and supported. Many of our team members have been part of West Bridgford Nursery for a number of years, creating the warm, family feel that so many families value.
Our Nursery Manager is also the Inclusion Lead for the cluster, helping to ensure children and families receive the support they need as early as possible. We work closely with families and relevant professionals to identify additional needs and access appropriate support, giving every child the best possible start and helping them thrive throughout their early years journey.
What are your staff to child ratios and how do you ensure safety?
We are committed to providing the highest standard of care and attention for every child, with safety as our top priority. Our staff-to-child ratios strictly adhere to and, in some cases, exceed UK regulations to ensure a secure, nurturing, and engaging environment.
Our regulated ratios are as follows:
Babies (Under 2 years): 1 staff member to every 3 children (1:3)
Toddlers (2-3 years): 1 staff member to every 5 children (1:5)
Preschoolers (3-4 years): 1 staff member to every 8 children (1:8)
By maintaining these ratios, we guarantee that each child receives the individual support, supervision, and guidance they need to thrive in a safe and monitored setting.
