What makes Kindred Lowdham unique?

At Kindred Lowdham, children benefit from a welcoming village nursery surrounded by the beauty of the countryside. With views across open fields and a train station close by, children enjoy everyday opportunities to connect with nature, observe wildlife and watch trains pass by from the nursery window.

Children enjoy extensive free-flow access to our outdoor spaces, including an allotment, giving them the freedom to explore, discover and learn outdoors throughout the day. Outdoor play is enhanced by a range of engaging resources including a climbing frame, sandpit, bikes, scooters, wooden balance beams and a mud kitchen stocked with real-life tools and utensils, encouraging active play, creativity and hands-on learning.

Parent Reviews

  • "Great nursery cook as my child has allergies. Great to know he’s included in activities eg. baking/messy play.
Great app to see how they are doing throughout the day which I love.
My other children went to this nursery too, the manager is friendly and professional and happy to help. Definitely recommend this nursery to anyone."

  • "My daughter started at Kindred at the beginning of February and as the same as most babies got upset for the first week or two but the staff in Curiosity Crescent went above and beyond to make her feel welcome. Not with just day-to-day activities but with love and care. She is now happy going into the nursery and has even started putting her arms out to staff at the front door with a big smile. I am also very impressed with the variety of food offered to the children. Thank you for welcoming us into Kindred so kindly and professionally."

    Chloe M

  • "After making the decision to remove our twin boys from their previous early years setting, it’s been a breath of fresh air since they began at Kindred Lowdham and a totally stress-free experience. We can’t fault the quality of care given by all the staff members and our boys are extremely happy to attend nursery. The environment itself is just lovely. Thorough handovers are given at the end of each day and do not feel rushed which is really refreshing. We’re so happy that they are coming home well fed too, the menu is fantastic. We can’t fault our experience so far."

  • "I moved from another county to Alphabet House and was very apprehensive because of all the changes my daughter was experiencing due to divorce. Alphabet House/Kindred Lowdham Nursery & Pre-school staff were incredibly supportive and can honestly say it feels like a little family. They are very attentive to all of my daughter's needs and development milestones. My daughter is thriving in this very loving and supportive environment. Compared to the last nursery, you can tell the staff love to be there, love the children and have excellent relationships with them rather than it just being a job. The staff really care and go out of their way to support me and my daughter. The manager is fantastic and clearly promotes a happy environment, full of fun, curiosity and wonder."

    Michelle R

  • "I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Kindred to other parents; the staff in the baby room are so kind, warm and it feels like they really actually enjoy looking after our child. Given that the baby room is often people’s first experience of a childcare setting, the staff in there are a credit to the nursery. Our child had some specific medical needs to be taken in to account and the staff took this so seriously, they really reassured us that our child would be well cared for."

  • "Staff are always very friendly and enthusiastic.
Staff know the children well and show lots of interest in them.
Lots of different activities. Flexible on attendance days. Good food menu and meals with variety."

Kindred Lowdham Nursery and Pre-School FAQs

What are the parking and access arrangements for drop-off and pick-up?

A large private car park is located at the rear of the nursery, making drop-off and pick-up as convenient as possible for families. For added security, parents can use the intercom system to gain access to the nursery. Younger children are collected and brought to the door by a member of the team, while older children can be supported to walk independently to the entrance. This secure and well-managed approach helps ensure a safe and smooth experience at the beginning and end of each day.

How do you build relationships with parents?

Our nursery values strong partnerships with families and works hard to create a welcoming community. Parents are kept informed through regular updates and our online newsfeed, helping them stay connected to their child's learning and development. Throughout the year, our nursery hosts events such as parent breakfasts, picnics, graduation celebrations and Christmas performances, giving families the opportunity to share special moments with us. Our open-door approach and regular parents' evenings help ensure parents feel supported, involve and part of nursery life.

What links do you have with local schools to prepare my child for the next step?

Supporting a smooth transition to school is an important part of our preschool experience. Children are encouraged to develop independence through everyday routines, such as self-serving meals, putting on coats and shoes and managing personal belongings. Families receive school readiness information, and local school representatives are invited to visit the nursery where possible. Our separate baby room also allows children to move through age-appropriate spaces and build relationships with their peers as they progress towards preschool. For children with additional needs, the team works closely with schools and other professionals to ensure a well-supported and successful transition.

What is the unique feel or ethos of your nursery team?

Our ethos is centred around creating a warm, family-focused environment where children feel safe, valued and encouraged to be themselves. Through a home-from-home approach and a strong focus on awe and wonder, our team supports children to build confidence, develop independence and enjoy a lifelong love of learning.
