What makes Big Top Roman Park unique?

At Big Top Roman Park, we offer a cozy home from home environment where every child is cared for as an individual. Our nursery is built on a foundation of trust; many of our dedicated team members have been with us for over 20 years, providing consistency and allowing us to build strong bonds with our families.

From hatching peacock eggs with the help of local farmers to learning the secrets of the hive from our visiting beekeeper, we bring the magic of the outdoors to life. Through our plant to plate initiative at our very own allotment, our children discover the joy of growing their own food, and we love nothing more than sharing any surplus harvest with our parents!

Big Top Roman Park FAQs

How often do children get to play outside, and what outdoor learning opportunities do you provide?

We believe there is no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes! Our children are outside every single day, in all weathers. A unique highlight of our outdoor curriculum is our allotment space. During the growing season, children are actively involved in planting and nurturing produce, teaching them all about sustainability and where their food comes from.

Does the nursery take the children out for trips in the local community?

We are proud of our close connection with Waddesdon Manor. Our children participate in meaningful community projects on their grounds, such as bulb planting sessions and creating and displaying Christmas decorations for the Manor during the festive season. These trips provide our children with a sense of pride and belonging within our local heritage and community.

How does the nursery engage with parents and build a strong community?

We foster an open and collaborative relationship with our families through and regularly invite parents in for general catch-ups as and when possible to ensure consistent communication. We also host interactive activities like Spring Seed Planting event. This is a wonderful opportunity for parents to join their children in planting seeds and working together to build our nursery scarecrow, creating lasting memories while supporting the children's learning.

What links do you have with local schools to prepare my child for the next step?

We have strong links with our local schools, meeting with them once a term to ensure every transition is handled with care and detail. Our Preschool Room Leader is a former primary school teacher and uses that experience to help the children develop the basic skills needed for school ensuring they feel confident and ready to start.
