Kindred Hemel Hempstead is a nature-rich nursery where our children have plenty of space to explore and thrive. Our large outdoor garden includes a vegetable patch where the children grow their own produce. We also have a dedicated baby garden, where they can enjoy the outdoors in a calm and secure environment.
Just a short walk from Boxmoor Trust owned land, our children enjoy regular outings to visit the local animals and experience moments they'll never forget, like watching the sheep being sheared. We're also lucky to have access to a beautiful apple orchard, where our little ones delight in picking their own fresh fruit.
We believe in cultivating strong relationships with our parents is key, which is why we love welcoming them into our setting to share music, stories, and inspiring moments with the children.

Hello, I’m Amanda the Manager at Kindred Hemel Hempstead.
Having joined the nursery back in 2010 and completing my NVQ Level 3 as an apprentice, I have aspired to become Management and achieved this in 2022 when I became the Deputy Manager. After our manger of 23 years retired I stepped up to manager in August 2024.
I have an unwavering commitment to early childhood development to ensure we give the children the best start. We take pride in our outdoor provisions, that really enhance communication, emotional and physical skills.
Hi , I’m Jade the Deputy Manager at Kindred Hemel Hempstead.
I have been with the nursery since 2013 after completing my Level 3 qualification. The nursery is a home away from home and full of awe and wonder.
I was previously the Baby room leader for 10 years and have loved nothing more than nurturing and caring for the children, however I'm ready to explore my new role supporting my Manager and the team.
At Kindred Nurseries, the safety and well-being of our children, teams and families are our highest priorities. Safeguarding is woven into every aspect of our operations. We are dedicated to creating a safe, supportive and nurturing environment where children, staff and families can thrive. Read more about our commitment to safety and wellbeing.
What are the designated parking and access arrangements for drop-off and pick-up?
We offer easy and convenient access with a large, private car park that features plenty of spaces for our parents. This dedicated parking ensures a safe and smooth experience during both peak drop-off and pick-up times.
What is the unique ethos and philosophy of your nursery team?
Our nursery is defined by a strong family feel, which is often highlighted by our parents. Our team benefits from the stability of longstanding staff, which provides consistency, balanced with newer staff who bring fresh ideas. A key pillar of our philosophy is a big emphasis on sustainability and recycling, integrating eco-conscious practices into our daily learning and activities.
What links do you have with local schools to prepare my child for their next step?
We maintain strong and active links with the several close local schools to ensure a confident transition. Our preparation includes:
School Visits: Teachers from local schools come into the nursery to visit, meet the children, and share information.
Resource Sharing: Schools share useful resources with us, such as uniforms for children to try on and pictures of the school environment, helping to familiarize the children with their next setting.
How do your settling in sessions work?
We offer a structured settling in process, with the goal of ensuring your child is fully settled:
Session 1 (1 hour): The parent stays with the child. We use this time to go through the 'All About Me' booklet and share essential information.
Session 2 (1 hour): The parent brings the child in, helps them settle briefly, and then comes away, allowing the child to practice a short period of separation.
Session 3 (2 hours): The child stays for a longer session, typically covering the lunch period, to experience a full part of the nursery routine.
If needed, we can customise and offer more sessions to ensure the process perfectly meets your child's individual needs.
