What makes Mary Poppins Day Nursery unique?

At Mary Poppins Day Nursery, we’ve been caring for children in Mickleover for more than 35 years. We’re proud to have a team of longstanding staff and this consistency helps us build real relationships with our families and provides a calm and familiar environment for our children.

Our setting features a specialised baby garden for our little explorers, alongside our main garden complete with a bug hotel and planting area. By growing their own produce, our children develop a healthy, hands-on connection to the world around them; and they love tasting the fresh fruit and veg they’ve grown themselves!

We also host engaging extracurriculars to help our little ones develop their skills. Whether they’re finding their rhythm during music and dance with Boogie Beats, or building confidence and coordination with Tiddle Kicks, these sessions are a lovely way for our little ones to try something new.

Mary Poppins Day Nursery FAQs

How often do the children play outside at the nursery?

We make sure our children get plenty of time outdoors; we go outside in most weather conditions and at least twice a day to ensure ample time for exploration and learning.

How do you build relationships with parents?

We stay in touch through regular newsletters and host parents' evenings to discuss your child's progress in more detail. We also have an open-door policy, so you can always come to us if you have a question or just want a quick chat.

What links do you have with local schools to prepare my child for the next step?

We’ve got great links with our local schools. Most teachers will come and visit the children here at the nursery, so they can meet in a place where the children already feel at home. We also help them get used to school routines by giving them their own school bags to take a book home on Fridays. Plus, we encourage them to serve their own lunch; it’s a simple way to help them build the independence they’ll need for school mealtimes.

Do you have any links with local charities?

Yes, we support Doorways, a local charity. We get involved in their harvest festival collections to help stock their food bank and support people in our local community.

How personalised is the care in your baby room?

Our baby room is homely and small, which allows us to provide very personalised care. Because the setting is intimate, we can stick closely to your baby's specific routine and give them the one-on-one attention they need at such an important age.
