What makes Kindred Rayleigh unique?

At Kindred Rayleigh, we cultivate a nurturing, home-from-home environment where every child feels secure. We are big on healthy eating and work hard to ensure our children develop positive lifelong relationships with food.
Our commitment to daily outdoor learning is central to our approach. Our large garden features fantastic resources from balance beams, a mud kitchen and a secret garden for cozy story times. Our preschool garden even has their very own veg patch where we grow fruit and veg.
We foster curiosity through real-world connections. Our children engage in lots of imaginative roleplay and benefit from strong community links, including regular visits from the local library and exciting educational trips to the post office and local greengrocers.

Meet Our Kindred Rayleigh Nursery Staff
Abby Buckley
Nursery Manager
Hello, I'm Abby and I have worked with children since 2009.
I qualified as a Level 3 when I was 17 having started as an apprentice. I progressed further in my career into a Room Leader role and was then honoured to step into management as the Deputy Manager where I thrive to achieve the best for all our families.
I love working alongside parents and carers and making them feel comfortable in leaving their most precious child with us. I absolutely love being a part of each child's journey and watching them grow and develop over their time spent with us. It never gets any easier saying goodbye when they start their new adventure to big school.
Kindred continuously offer training opportunities to support my progression to achieve being the best I can be. I am now a mummy myself, and my little girl joins me in the Kindred family.
Jodie Openshaw
Deputy Nursery Manager
Hi, I am Jodie and I have been working at Kindred Rayleigh for 7 years.
I am passionate about Early Years Education, and this was the inspiration for me achieving my BA (Hons) Early Years Education. I have completed lots of other courses to further myself and provide our children with the best early years' experience, some of which include Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding, Safer Recruitment, Makaton, and Forest School Leader.
I believe a child's early years are the initial embers that spark a lifelong passion for learning. It's my privilege to share this time with both the children and our team every day.

Deputy Nursery Manager

Kindred Rayleigh Nursery and Pre-School FAQs
What are the designated parking and access arrangements for drop-off and pick-up?
We have a private car park specifically for our families allowing for convenient and safe access to the nursery during peak drop-off and pick-up times.
What is the unique feel or ethos of your nursery team?
We are a close-knit team with a wide range of ages, knowledge, and experience, with the perfect balance of longstanding staff and newer team members who bring fresh ideas. We pride ourselves on maintaining a friendly and welcoming atmosphere that is as supportive of new staff as it is of our families.
How does your nursery build strong relationships and engagement with parents?
We believe in a collaborative approach and maintain an open-door policy, inviting parents to be an active part of our community. We build these bonds through:
Family Fun Days: Regular events that bring our nursery community together.
Personalised Communication: We offer scheduled telephone catchups for parents who prefer a more in-depth discussion about their child's progress.
Accessibility: Parents are always welcome to come in and speak with us whenever they need.
What links do you have with local schools to prepare my child for their next step?
We have built excellent relationships with many local schools to ensure a smooth transition. Our "School Readiness" program includes:
Teacher Visits: Reception teachers come into our setting to meet and interact with the children.
Practical Skills: We practice "PE Readiness" where children use PE bags and get used to changing into different clothes, a key skill for the first year of school.
Uniforms: Thanks to kind donations from parents of older siblings, we have school uniforms for the older children to wear to prepare them for that transition.
How do your settling in sessions work?
We typically offer 3 to 4 sessions to ensure your child feels secure, though we are always happy to accommodate more if needed.
Session 1: You and your child will meet their keyworker and spend some time together. We also use this an opportunity to fill out the 'All About Me' booklet, helping us learn about your child's personality, routines, and preferences.
Session 2: A session where we will encourage you to leave for a short time so your child can start to build their confidence and bond with their keyworker.
Session 3: A longer drop-off session to finalise the transition.
Do you have links with any local family hubs or health services?
Yes, we work very closely with the Oak Tree Family Hub and have established strong relationships with their health visitors.
