What makes Kindred Winterbourne Earls unique?

Kindred Winterbourne Earls is set in a beautiful countryside location, surrounded by green spaces that create a calm and inspiring place for our children to learn and grow.

We provide specialized, age-appropriate care for our youngest children by separating them into two rooms: one for babies from 0-18 months and another for toddlers from 18-24 months. This approach ensures your little one gets the specific attention they need for their developmental stage.

We proudly follow the Curiosity Approach, a philosophy that encourages a sense of wonder and creativity. Instead of traditional toys, we use a wide variety of open-ended resources and loose parts to inspire your child's imagination, problem-solving skills, and independent thinking. This approach allows children to explore and learn in a way that is natural and unique to them.

  • Age Range: We offer care for children from 3 Months up to 5 Years.
  • Opening Hours: We are open 07:30 - 18:00, 50 weeks of the year.
  • Ofsted Rating: We are proud to have been rated Good by Ofsted at their last visit on 13th April 2022.
  • Location: We are located in Winterbourne Earls, near Salisbury.

Parent Reviews

  • "Winterbourne have been very supportive with my little girl, ready to listen to me with any concerns I have had and supporting me with getting her through speech and language, they have been very patient with her struggles with toileting and have gone out of their way to do the small little things to support this. She’s always saying that she enjoys all the creative activities and is always coming home with lovely artwork, it’s great to be able to see nice little observations on what she gets up to here at the nursery."

  • "Good food choices on the menu, lovely staff throughout the nursery, nice settings in each room, and lots of activities for my little one to enjoy. Lots of indoor activities, painting, chalk play, and lots of creative play to help the children's motor skills, always give loads of support regarding your  child's needs and support to myself, and any questions asked are always answered with full support."

  • "Kindred Winterbourne is a fantastic setting and I am so happy that both my children are so happy and settled there. My daughter is currently in readiness road and is flourishing with the team, they are giving her challenges which she's thrives from whilst also supporting her emotional development. She has come on so well and I cannot thank the Readiness Road team enough for all their care, attentiveness and enthusiasm. My son has recently started to settle into curiosity crescent and is also very happy and settled. He happily goes to the team for a cuddle in the morning without any tears. The team in curiosity crescent have been brilliant with his allergy needs, supporting with breast milk feeds and good naps during the day. The satchel app is fantastic, all information about the children's day is included and information from the office is posted regularly. Some beautiful observations are created however this isn't as yet consistent across both my children's rooms."

  • "Kindred Winterbourne's is absolutely fantastic, such a lovely nursery with lovely staff who are extremely helpful, supporting and caring. Their engagement with the children is so connecting. The environment is great, the rooms are beautiful and look so fun... We know he's loved and cared for here. So many parents speak positively of this nursery. My child is in Curiosity Crescent and the staff in his room are so wonderful and informative. He really does have the best time here. Nothing is an issue, they incorporate your child's routine at home to nursery life. They give you an honest summary of how the day has been and what he's got up to etc. The app is fantastic, it gives us updates on what he's eaten, nap times, nappy changes and so on. The manager is brilliant."

  • "Kindred Winterbourne Earls has been absolutely fantastic from day 1. My daughter started age 10 months and is about to leave to start school. She has gained so much confidence and really come out of her shell at nursery. She has made friends and had lots of brilliant experiences including ballet once a week and previously a music teacher once a week. The staff have all been really supportive and helpful. The app is really informative & if I've been worried I've just messaged and had a response really quickly. I couldn't recommend them more & we will all miss it."

Our Team

Meet Our Kindred Winterbourne Earls Nursery Staff

Laura Hopkins
Nursery Manager

Hello my name is Laura Hopkins and I am the Manager at Kindred Winterbourne.

I started in this role in September 2024 after having progressed from being a deputy manager at one of our other Salisbury based nurseries where I was in that role since 2018.

I began my career as a Private Nanny until I moved into nursery education.  I hold a Diploma in Childcare and Education Level 3 and have  experience in childcare since the early 2000's.

Chloe Down
Deputy Manager

I have worked in childcare across a variety of ages from 3 months plus since 2010 at an outdoor nursery, where I completed my level 2 and 3 in Early Years. This has given me some amazing experience and has helped me gain a wide range of knowledge which I have brought to Kindred.

I joined the Kindred family in 2018 as a room leader and have since worked my way up to Deputy Manager and nursery SENCO. My passion is respectful care, ensuring we follow a respectful and unhurried approach to the children's development and care, ensuring they are given the opportunities to flourish and develop into confident children ready for the next steps in their journey.

Kindred Winterbourne Earls Nursery and Pre-School FAQ

What are the designated parking and access arrangements for drop-off and pick-up?

We have convenient and secure parking for parents with a designated parking area located right alongside the building. This provides a safe and easy access point for dropping off and picking up your child.

What links do you have with local schools to prepare my child for their next step?

We have strong and active partnerships with local schools to ensure a smooth and confident transition for your child. Our preparation for school is a collaborative effort that includes:

  • Parent Workshops: Our preschool staff run dedicated transition workshops for parents. These sessions provide practical advice on how to prepare your child for school, along with a detailed overview of the school readiness activities we conduct in the nursery.

  • School Staff Visits: A reception teaching assistant from a local school regularly visits our nursery to run a story group with the children. This helps children become familiar with new faces and feel comfortable with school staff in a relaxed environment.

  • Resource Exchange: We exchange leaflets, banners, and other resources with local schools to keep our families informed about key dates and information. Schools also bring in resources for our children to explore, giving them a taste of what's to come.

What are your staff-to-child ratios at the nursery?

We are committed to providing the highest standard of care and attention for every child. Our staff-to-child ratios strictly adhere to all UK regulations to ensure a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment.

Our ratios are as follows:

Babies (Under 2 years): 1 staff member to every 3 children (1:3)

Toddlers (2-3 years): 1 staff member to every 5 children (1:5)

Preschoolers (3-4 years): 1 staff member to every 8 children (1:8)

This commitment to regulated ratios guarantees that each child receives the individual support and guidance they need to thrive.

How do settling in sessions work?

We offer a flexible and supportive settling-in process designed to help your child feel secure and happy before their first day. We begin with a series of sessions held one to two weeks before your child's official start date.

  • First Session: This is an initial stay-and-play session where you and your child will spend one hour with us. During this time, we'll complete all necessary paperwork and fill out the 'All About Me' book, which helps us understand your child's unique personality and needs.

  • Second Session: We then move on to a two-hour session. Throughout this process, we are completely flexible—you are welcome to stay or go as you see fit, depending on what makes your child feel most comfortable.

If a child isn't settling as expected, we are always prepared to offer additional sessions to ensure they feel confident and secure in their new environment. Our goal is to work with you to make the transition as smooth and positive as possible.
