Kindred Winterbourne Earls is set in a beautiful countryside location, surrounded by green spaces that create a calm and inspiring place for our children to learn and grow.
We provide specialized, age-appropriate care for our youngest children by separating them into two rooms: one for babies from 0-18 months and another for toddlers from 18-24 months. This approach ensures your little one gets the specific attention they need for their developmental stage.
We proudly follow the Curiosity Approach, a philosophy that encourages a sense of wonder and creativity. Instead of traditional toys, we use a wide variety of open-ended resources and loose parts to inspire your child's imagination, problem-solving skills, and independent thinking. This approach allows children to explore and learn in a way that is natural and unique to them.
Join us at Kindred Winterbourne Earls Nursery and Pre-School for our Open Day on Saturday 11th October from 09:30 - 14:30.
On your visit, you'll meet our team, explore our spaces, and see the expert care we give every child, every day.

Laura Hopkins
Nursery Manager
Hello my name is Laura Hopkins and I am the Manager at Kindred Winterbourne.
I started in this role in September 2024 after having progressed from being a deputy manager at one of our other Salisbury based nurseries where I was in that role since 2018.
I began my career as a Private Nanny until I moved into nursery education. I hold a Diploma in Childcare and Education Level 3 and have experience in childcare since the early 2000's.
I have worked in childcare across a variety of ages from 3 months plus since 2010 at an outdoor nursery, where I completed my level 2 and 3 in Early Years. This has given me some amazing experience and has helped me gain a wide range of knowledge which I have brought to Kindred.
I joined the Kindred family in 2018 as a room leader and have since worked my way up to Deputy Manager and nursery SENCO. My passion is respectful care, ensuring we follow a respectful and unhurried approach to the children's development and care, ensuring they are given the opportunities to flourish and develop into confident children ready for the next steps in their journey.
At Kindred Nurseries, the safety and well-being of our children, teams and families are our highest priorities. Safeguarding is woven into every aspect of our operations. We are dedicated to creating a safe, supportive and nurturing environment where children, staff and families can thrive. Read more about our commitment to safety and wellbeing.
We have convenient and secure parking for parents with a designated parking area located right alongside the building. This provides a safe and easy access point for dropping off and picking up your child.
We have strong and active partnerships with local schools to ensure a smooth and confident transition for your child. Our preparation for school is a collaborative effort that includes:
Parent Workshops: Our preschool staff run dedicated transition workshops for parents. These sessions provide practical advice on how to prepare your child for school, along with a detailed overview of the school readiness activities we conduct in the nursery.
School Staff Visits: A reception teaching assistant from a local school regularly visits our nursery to run a story group with the children. This helps children become familiar with new faces and feel comfortable with school staff in a relaxed environment.
Resource Exchange: We exchange leaflets, banners, and other resources with local schools to keep our families informed about key dates and information. Schools also bring in resources for our children to explore, giving them a taste of what's to come.
We are committed to providing the highest standard of care and attention for every child. Our staff-to-child ratios strictly adhere to all UK regulations to ensure a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment.
Our ratios are as follows:
Babies (Under 2 years): 1 staff member to every 3 children (1:3)
Toddlers (2-3 years): 1 staff member to every 5 children (1:5)
Preschoolers (3-4 years): 1 staff member to every 8 children (1:8)
This commitment to regulated ratios guarantees that each child receives the individual support and guidance they need to thrive.
We offer a flexible and supportive settling-in process designed to help your child feel secure and happy before their first day. We begin with a series of sessions held one to two weeks before your child's official start date.
First Session: This is an initial stay-and-play session where you and your child will spend one hour with us. During this time, we'll complete all necessary paperwork and fill out the 'All About Me' book, which helps us understand your child's unique personality and needs.
Second Session: We then move on to a two-hour session. Throughout this process, we are completely flexible—you are welcome to stay or go as you see fit, depending on what makes your child feel most comfortable.
If a child isn't settling as expected, we are always prepared to offer additional sessions to ensure they feel confident and secure in their new environment. Our goal is to work with you to make the transition as smooth and positive as possible.
