Kindred Wanstead Nursery and Pre-School FAQs
What is the unique ethos and philosophy of your nursery team?
Our nursery is built on a strong family feel, which is reinforced by our accessible team. We maintain a genuine open door policy where our management is always available on-site, ensuring we are approachable and that nothing is ever too much trouble. All of our staff actively work to know every child in the nursery, creating a truly welcoming and personal environment for every family.
How does your nursery build strong relationships and engagement with parents?
We prioritise a close partnership with our families through clear communication and community connection:
Weekly Newsletters: We keep parents informed with detailed weekly newsletters.
Coffee Mornings: We host regular coffee mornings for relaxed, informal chats with staff and other parents.
Parent Care Initiatives: We show our appreciation by offering thoughtful touches, such as parent self-care kits.
How do your settling in sessions work?
We structure our settling-in process across three sessions to ensure a gradual and positive transition for your child:
Session 1 (30 minutes): The parent stays with the child for the first half-hour to complete the "All About Me Booklet" and ensure a comfortable introduction.
Session 2 (1 hour): The child is dropped off for an hour, allowing them to practice separation and start forming independent bonds with staff.
Session 3 (3 hours): The child stays for an extended three hours to fully experience a substantial portion of the nursery routine.
Do you have links with any local family hubs or charities?
Yes, we are actively involved in supporting our wider community. We frequently organise food bank collections and work directly with Redbridge Food Bank to teach children about kindness and social responsibility while assisting local people in need.
What are your staff-to-child ratios at the nursery?
We are committed to providing the highest standard of care and attention for every child, with safety as our top priority. Our staff-to-child ratios strictly adhere to and, in some cases, exceed UK regulations to ensure a secure, nurturing, and engaging environment.
Our regulated ratios are as follows:
Babies (Under 2 years): 1 staff member to every 3 children (1:3)
Toddlers (2-3 years): 1 staff member to every 5 children (1:5)
Preschoolers (3-4 years): 1 staff member to every 8 children (1:8)
By maintaining these ratios, we guarantee that each child receives the individual support, supervision, and guidance they need to thrive in a safe and monitored setting.
