What makes Kindred Royston Newmarket Road unique?

At Kindred Royston Newmarket Road Pre-school, we believe in the power of outdoor play - come rain or shine! With safety and warm clothing provided, our children enjoy fresh air and adventure every day.

Our wonderful outdoor space includes a calming sensory garden, and our forest school, held on a nearby school site, offers endless opportunities for woodland learning and exploration.

We're passionate about connecting nursery and home life. Our specially designed cooking boxes, created by our talented chef, give families the chance to cook together and extend learning beyond the nursery.  A firm favourite with our children is Chester Bear, our beloved nursery bear, who goes home with one of our children each weekend for exciting adventures.

Parent Reviews

  • "Having sent both my son and daughter to the pre-school, I have only positive things to say about our experiences. The staff have been great, the development of my children is fantastic and they have enjoyed every bit of their pre-school journey and moved on to school absolutely ready and thriving. I feel safe in the knowledge that my children are being well looked after and are happy. To the extent I have ever made suggestions to enhance our experience further, they are always listened to and acted upon my comments which is fantastic. I would most certainly recommend the setting."

  • "We are very happy with the preschool. Our son seems to have settled really well and I believe there is a good range of activities for him to get involved in that play to different skills and strengths. The staff are friendly and seem to really care about him. We love the Forest School too."

Meet Our Kindred Royston Newmarket Road Nursery Staff

Jenny Paskins
Pre-School Manager

Hi, my name is Jennifer (also known as Jenny or Jen).

Childcare has always been a passion of mine from a young age and I have now worked in the industry since 2007. I feel so honoured to be a part of each and every child's early years experiences. Since working in childcare, I have been particularly interested in the opportunities that outdoor environments provide to early learning. This influenced my interest in forest school, and I have since obtained my Level 3 forest school leadership award.

I have worked my way up the ladder, from practitioner to manager and I always look forward to seeing where my next chapter takes me whilst I continue to help each child to blossom and reach their full potential at our pre-school whilst having lots of fun.

Kindred Royston Newmarket Road Pre-School FAQs

What is the unique feel or ethos of your nursery team?

At Kindred Royston Newmarket Road we’re a big family! All our staff including our cooks, know every child well and take an active interest in their development and wellbeing. We also value working closely with our families and extending learning beyond the nursery through initiatives, such as Cook Like Eira that encourage our families to cook a yummy and nutritious meal together.

How often do the children play outside?

Our children have free-flow access to our garden all day, everyday and are encouraged to explore and learn outdoors in all weathers. Our outdoor space plays a central role in our nursery life, providing opportunities for children to dig in the sandpit, create in the mud kitchen, build with loose parts, grow and care for plants, and take part in Forest School-inspired activities.

How do you build relationships with parents?

We keep parents involved in their child's learning by regularly sharing photographs, observations, and celebrating their achievements, both in and outside of nursery. Our dedicated achievement board by the front door helps families share in these proud moments and celebrates each child's individuality.

We also encourage family involvement through initiatives such as our book swap, welly swap, and Cook Like Eira, where children and families can enjoy cooking activities together at home.

What links do you have with local schools to prepare my child for the next step?

We work closely with local schools to help ensure children feel confident and ready for their next step. We invite local school teachers into the nursery to meet the children in a familiar environment, helping to build confidence and ease the transition process.

Within the nursery we build the skills children need for school through everyday experiences that encourage independence such as making choices, asking for help, pouring their own drinks, and taking responsibility for simple tasks.
