We pride ourselves on creating a space where families feel part of our nursery family. Building strong relationships is at the heart of what we do, and all of our staff, including our cooks, know the children well and take an active interest in their development, interests and wellbeing.

We value working closely with families and extending learning beyond the nursery. Initiatives such as Cook Like Eira encourage families to get involved together. 

Our ethos is centred around nurturing curious, independent and resilient children, giving them the confidence, skills and experiences they need to thrive.

We place a strong emphasis on outdoor learning and following children's natural curiosity. Children have free-flow access to our garden throughout the day and are encouraged to explore, discover, and learn through hands-on experiences in all weathers.

Our outdoor space plays a central role in nursery life, providing opportunities for children to dig in the sandpit, create in the mud kitchen, build with loose parts, grow and care for plants, and take part in Forest School-inspired activities. We grow tomatoes, herbs, lavender, mint, and marigolds, helping children experience nature through different smells, textures, colours, and tastes.

We also bring nature indoors, where children enjoy caring for our Giant African snail and exploring natural objects collected from the garden. Whether investigating how natural playdough changes colour and scent or safely hammering golf tees into watermelons while wearing safety goggles, we encourage children to learn through exploration, creativity, and discovery. Through these experiences, children develop a love and respect for the natural world, while building confidence, curiosity and independence.

We keep parents involved in their child's learning by regularly sharing photographs, observations, and celebrating their achievements, both in and outside of nursery. Whether a child has earned a swimming certificate, completed a puzzle, or achieved something special at home, we enjoy recognising and celebrating these successes within the setting. Our dedicated achievement board by the front door helps families share in these proud moments and celebrates each child's individuality.

We encourage family involvement through initiatives such as our book swap, welly swap, and Cook Like Eira, where children and families can enjoy cooking activities together at home.

We work closely with local schools to help ensure children feel confident and ready for their next step. We build the skills children need for school through everyday experiences that encourage independence, resilience, and curiosity, such as making choices, asking for help, pouring their own drinks, and taking responsibility for simple tasks.

We invite local school teachers into the nursery to meet the children in a familiar and comfortable environment, helping to build confidence and ease the transition process. We also celebrate each child's achievements and interests, both in and outside of nursery, helping to develop their self-esteem and sense of belonging.

By nurturing confident, independent learners and supporting children emotionally and socially, we help ensure they are well prepared for a successful start at school.
