What makes Kindred St Ives unique?

Kindred St Ives offers a warm, imaginative space where our children thrive through outdoor, open-ended play. Our garden features a woodside area, playhouses, logs, and a sensory rich mud kitchen; perfect for everyday exploration.

Tucked away is our secret garden; a calming space with a canopy, where our children build dens, play with natural materials, and enjoy peaceful moments in nature. Open-ended resources like crates, hosepipes, and steering wheels spark creativity and problem-solving through child-led play.

We're proud of our long-standing team who bring experience and continuity to every child's journey, providing the kind of personalised and consistent care that help your little one flourish.

Parent Reviews

  • "My daughter has been coming here since she turned two and she absolutely bounds through the door each morning. The team are lovely. The food is varied and healthy. The activities are exciting. It’s a wonderful setting. The team picked up on the fact that my daughter needs extra support in some areas and is working hard to help her meet her milestones."

    Kayli B

  • "There have been so many, the teams have been so supportive of me and my girls whilst attending the nursery. My husband frequently goes away with work and offers a huge amount of support for my children. Advice, positive feedback and love and care. I would not want my children to go anywhere else!"

    A G

  • "Every single one of the staff is lovely. They clearly care about the kids they are looking after and take the time to get to know them. Both of my children have had amazing key workers who appreciate them as individuals and help them to flourish."

    M A

  • "My toddler twins have been going to the nursery for a few months now. They have settled in really well. Staff have been great and I really feel they understand their needs. I would recommend this nursery."

    G S

  • "The team at Kindred are absolutely wonderful. As a vegan family, we were initially concerned about how this would be received at nursery, but they always go above and beyond to ensure that our child is included and that our vegan beliefs are respected. As our child is also bilingual, we really appreciate how much our home language is valued too. The care and attention given to all children is second to none, and I have absolute trust in all of them and wholeheartedly consider this a home-from-home for our child. We are greeted with enthusiasm and energy every morning, and pick-up is the same. The staff are kind, compassionate and genuinely care. We feel enormously grateful to have found such a wonderful nursery."

    W C

  • "We cannot rate Kindred St Ives highly enough! This is our third year using the nursery and we have two children attending. Our youngest has a range of intolerances, all of which are catered for without any fuss. The staff are attentive, professional, caring, and generally amazing. We know that our in the best possible setting and that is due to the incredible work of the manager, the room managers and all the staff who work so hard. Thank you!"

Kindred St Ives Nursery and Pre-School FAQs

What are the parking and access arrangements for drop-off and pick-up?

We have our own private car park on-site, making it easy and safe for you to drop off and pick up your child.

What is the unique feel or ethos of your nursery team?

We have a very caring team with a real mix of experience. Some of our staff have been with us for 30 years, while our newer staff bring fresh ideas. Many of our team members are parents themselves, so they really understand the ups and downs of family life and are always happy to offer support if needed.

How do you build relationships with parents?

We make sure staff are always available at drop-off and pick-up to have a proper chat with you. If you ever need a more private conversation, we have a dedicated meeting room that you can book whenever you feel you need a bit more time to talk.

What links do you have with local schools to prepare my child for the next step?

We have strong links with schools in St Ives and the surrounding areas. Before their transition reception teachers and/or support staff will come into the nursery to meet the children in a familiar setting.

In the term before they leave us, we turn our "Imagination Station" into a pretend school. We put up photos of the local schools, let the children practice wearing uniforms, and even practice eating from lunchboxes so they feel confident and ready for their first day.

How do your settling in sessions work?

We usually run three sessions to ensure your child is confident before they start:

Session 1 (1 hour): You stay with your child to meet their keyworker and fill out the "All About Me" booklet.

Session 2 (1 hour): A short drop-off session where the child stays with us on their own.

Session 3 (2 hours): A longer stay that includes a lunch or tea time, so they can get used to the routine of our nursery.
