What makes Kindred Huntingdon unique?

A teacher and two children are happily planting seedlings in an outdoor raised garden bed at the nursery. A bright, sunlit room at the nursery with low tables and chairs, an area for creative play, and displays of children's artwork on the wall.

Kindred Huntingdon Nursery and Pre-School is set in a beautifully converted barn, filled with light and space for your little one to learn and grow.

Surrounded by peaceful green fields, our setting offers two large outdoor areas; one with views of the neighbouring cows, a daily delight for our children! Our gardens are designed for adventure and creativity, with climbing frames, a sheltered canopy for calm moments, and plenty of open-ended resources to spark imaginative play.

We understand how important flexibility is for busy families, which is why we're open from 7am to 6pm, ideal for parents commuting by train or working at the local hospital. We also work in close partnership with our families through our Parent Ambassador programme, giving you a real voice in shaping nursery life and building strong, supportive relationships from the very start.

For families living in villages to the east of Huntingdon like Needingworth or Fenstanton, Kindred St Ives may be a better option.

Parent Reviews

  • "Our daughter has grown so much and is very confident and independent. We can't thank the staff enough for their remarkable experience in working with children. You all are doing an amazing job. Keep it up."

    F F

  • "Fantastic nursery. We had a weird time with our son’s previous nursery with a lot of concerns, which is alarming for a relatively new parent, but not at Kindred. The staff are very accommodating and welcoming. Our son, with potential additional needs, is cared for above and beyond. I couldn’t recommend the family-feel staff enough. Rates are very reasonable. Your child will thrive."

Kindred Huntingdon Nursery and Pre-School FAQs

What are the designated parking and access arrangements for drop-off and pick-up?

Our facility provides a secure and convenient experience for parents with a private car park and clearly designated drop-off and collection points. These dedicated areas are located just outside the main entrance, ensuring a smooth and safe transition for your child to and from our care. This setup is designed to provide easy, direct access to the building.

What is the unique ethos and philosophy of your nursery team?

Our nursery's ethos is centred on creating a genuine home from home environment. We pride ourselves on providing a nurturing and personal touch, ensuring that every child feels safe and cared for.

Looking to the future, we are transitioning to become a more outdoor-led nursery. We are placing a big emphasis on outdoor play, as we believe that connecting with nature is essential for a child's development, curiosity, and well-being. This shift will allow us to offer even more opportunities for exploration and active learning in the great outdoors.

What links do you have with local schools to prepare my child for their next step?

We work hard to build strong relationships with local schools to ensure a smooth and confident transition for your child. Our dedicated links with neighboring primary schools allow us to facilitate a variety of collaborative activities, including:

School Visits: We invite teachers and staff from local schools to our nursery to meet and play with the children, helping them become familiar with new faces in a comfortable setting.

Information Sharing: Our keyworkers meet with school staff to share important information about each child's development, personality, and progress. This ensures a seamless continuation of their learning journey.

SEN Support: We coordinate closely with the Special Educational Needs (SEN) teams from local schools. Our SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) holds meetings with their counterparts to discuss individual needs and support plans, guaranteeing a smooth and well-supported transition for all children.

What are your staff-to-child ratios at the nursery?

We are committed to providing the highest standard of care and attention for every child. Our staff-to-child ratios strictly adhere to all UK regulations to ensure a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment.

Our ratios are as follows:

Babies (Under 2 years): 1 staff member to every 3 children (1:3)

Toddlers (2-3 years): 1 staff member to every 5 children (1:5)

Preschoolers (3-4 years): 1 staff member to every 8 children (1:8)

This commitment to regulated ratios guarantees that each child receives the individual support and guidance they need to thrive.

How do settling in sessions work?

Our settling-in process is designed to be a smooth and comfortable transition for both you and your child, consisting of three one-hour sessions.

Session 1: You'll join your child in the nursery to meet their keyworker and spend time together. This is a great opportunity to fill out the 'All About Me' book, which helps us learn about your child's personality, routines, and preferences.

Sessions 2 & 3: These sessions are for your child to gradually get used to the nursery environment. We'll arrange one session for an hour in the morning and the other for an hour in the afternoon, where you can drop your child off and collect them later. This gentle separation allows your child to build confidence and independence with their new friends and keyworker.

Do you have links with any local family hubs, charities, or support groups?

Yes, we are directly connected to The Family Hub, located at the back of our building. This partnership allows us to offer an exclusive discount; parents who are part of the hub receive a 5% discount on our nursery fees.
