National Apprenticeship Week 2025: Real Stories from our Apprentices

At Kindred Nurseries, we believe in nurturing not just the children in our care but also the dedicated individuals who choose a career in early years education. This National Apprenticeship Week, we’re celebrating the incredible journeys of our apprentices—highlighting their successes, experiences, and the invaluable role they play in shaping young minds.

Real Stories from Our Apprentices

We are proud to partner with Hawk Training, a leading provider of early years apprenticeships, to offer high-quality training and development for our apprentices. Through this partnership, many of our team members have gained hands-on experience, industry-recognised qualifications, and the confidence to grow within the early years sector.

Here are some inspiring stories from our apprentices:

❝I’m Danni and I work at Kindred Cambourne. I've been here since college, so just over 2 years, and I’m currently completing my Level 3 Child Care Early Years Apprenticeship. I’m half way through my course and I’m finding it helpful to learn whilst working with the children. I’ve definitely become more confident with the children and their families since doing my level 3. It’s made me realise just why children do things and what they're trying to achieve. I’ve also just passed my English functional skills which has given me extra motivation to finish my apprenticeship.❞

❝I decided to do an Apprenticeship in Early Years Education as I wanted to expand my knowledge regarding teaching and looking after young children. I have previous experience teaching older children and teenagers, so wanted to learn about younger children's learning and development, as I was not familiar with this. The Apprenticeship allowed me to learn in depth about the 7 areas of learning and development, and the pattern-stages of development. One of my favourite topics was 'Theories and Philosophical Approaches'. Working within the nursery whilst doing this Apprenticeship has helped a lot, as I am able to experience and put into practice everything I am learning throughout the course. It's been a really rewarding experience for me.❞

❝I've been working at Kindred Enfield for 3 years now. I started off as an agency worker, and then I was offered the chance to start my Level 3 Early Years Apprenticeship. This really helped me to grow my confidence, as well as building on parent partnership and my knowledge of child development.❞

❝I decided to begin an Apprenticeship in Early Years Education as I'm dedicated to making a positive impact on children's learning. My experience of this has exceeded my expectations— I've found it has helped me to build stronger relationships with the children and their families, as well as helping me with problem solving, my creativity and developing my knowledge. I am now more confident and put myself 'out there' more.❞

❝I'm currently studying for my Level 2 qualification to be an Early Years Educator. It has really helped me build my confidence, especially with building relationships with parents and understanding child development and children's needs. I would really recommend starting an Apprenticeship as it's an amazing experience working whilst you study to help you build knowledge.❞
