We prioritise outdoor play as a core part of a child's day and ensure children spend a significant amount of time learning and exploring outside. Children have opportunities to access outdoor environments throughout the day, with free-flow access available wherever possible.

Our garden is thoughtfully divided into areas for under twos and over twos, allowing children to enjoy age-appropriate outdoor experiences safely. We believe children learn best when they can move freely between indoor and outdoor environments, so we encourage outdoor exploration in all seasons.

We offer flexibility around drop-off and collection routines and work closely with families to ensure arrangements suit their child's needs.

Parents are welcome to accompany their child into the nursery, while others prefer a quicker handover. We are happy to support whichever approach works best for each family. We also benefit from a private on-site car park, making drop-offs and collections as convenient as possible. Our team provides regular updates and ensures smooth transitions at both the beginning and end of the day.

At Kindred Cambridge, relationships are at the heart of everything we do. As a smaller nursery with just three rooms, children, families and staff quickly get to know one another, creating a genuine sense of community and belonging.

Our experienced team takes pride in developing strong, trusting relationships with every child and family. Children are known throughout the nursery, not just by the practitioners in their room, helping them feel secure and supported as they grow and transition between age groups.

We believe in creating experiences that inspire awe and wonder, celebrating different cultures, festivals and traditions while ensuring every child feels included, valued and respected.

We believe strong partnerships with parents help children thrive. Through regular communication, daily conversations and shared experiences, we work closely with families to support every child's development.

Parents are invited to take part in a wide range of nursery events, including stay and play sessions, family fun days, Mother's Day and Father's Day celebrations, seasonal events and preschool graduation.

We prioritise welcoming families into nursery life and value the important role they play in children's learning. Parents regularly visit the nursery to share stories, talk about their interests, careers and experiences, and take part in activities alongside the children. These opportunities help strengthen our nursery community while giving children meaningful experiences that broaden their understanding of the world around them.

Learning extends beyond the nursery too. We support families through our lending library and a range of home learning boxes covering topics such as communication and language, understanding emotions and visiting the dentist, alongside practical support for milestones such as potty training.

We take a flexible and personalised approach to settling in, recognising that every child and family is different.

The process begins with an induction session with the Room Leader and completion of an All About Me form, providing an opportunity to discuss routines, interests, developmental needs and any questions families may have.

Children then typically attend three settling-in sessions, beginning with a one-hour session, followed by a two-hour session and then a three-hour session. Additional sessions can be arranged where needed, and we usually recommend starting the settling-in process one to two weeks before a child's official start date.

Our priority is ensuring children feel comfortable, secure and confident before beginning their regular nursery attendance.
