What makes Kindred Girton unique?

At Kindred Girton, we are proud to offer large outdoor spaces, with each room having its own dedicated garden. Our older children benefit from free flow access to the garden all day. This wonderful area includes wooden climbing apparatus, which is perfect for helping children hone their coordination and essential motor skills.
We are passionate about developing strong relationships that connect nursery and home life. We encourage this bond through special activities like Sullivan the Sloth and Penelope the Penguin our beloved teddies who go home with our children for weekend adventures. Meet Our Kindred Girton Nursery Staff
Emma Carter
Nursery Manager
Hello, my name is Emma. I have worked in childcare for over a decade and have been at Kindred Girton since the beginning of 2022.
My childcare journey started as a student with me studying to become a Level 3 practitioner. Since this have achieved a Level 4 Advanced Practitioner qualification.
I have worked in many roles throughout the years including keyworker, room leader, deputy manager and nursery manager. From the moment I began my study in 2010 I knew that I wanted to support every child in my care to develop a lifelong love for learning.
I am passionate about an environment where all families feel supported, and all children thrive in their learning and development.
Sophie Smith
Deputy Nursery Manager
Hi, I'm Sophie, the Deputy Manager here at Kindred Girton.
I have been working at Kindred Girton since 2016, where I joined as an apprentice. Over the last 7 years I have grown and worked my way up through the roles withing the nursery from key person, room lead, deputy and now deputy manager. Throughout this time, I have become Level 3 qualified in Early Years, I am the ENCO representative (Equality & Needs Co-ordinator), MHFA, SENCO & DSL.
As my journey and career has blossomed over the years my passions have remained true to my initial ones in my early years of childcare - 'Ensuring all children feel safe, secure, and represented within our nursery enabling and supporting them to thrive in learning, development, natural curiosity, and exploration.
I am passionate about children exploring the natural world around them. My love and understanding of outdoor learning are something I take pride of here at Kindred Girton. So, you may see me in the main office, or working in my wellies in our garden allotment.

We offer easy and convenient access with a large, private car park for our families.ensuring a safe and smooth experience during both drop-off and pick-up times.
What is the unique feel or philosophy of your nursery team?
Our nursery provides a strong 'home from home' atmosphere, built upon a foundation of longstanding staff who are deeply committed to their roles. Our team is highly valued for its diverse backgrounds, skillsets, and cultures, which they actively share to enrich the children's learning. This diversity, combined with our focus on building strong relationships, ensures a nurturing and broad-minded environment for every child.
What links do you have with local schools to prepare my child for their next step?
We maintain key connections with local primary schools to support a confident transition. Our preparation includes:
School Visits: Teachers from local schools come into the nursery to meet and interact with the children in a familiar setting.
Information Sharing: We share school open day event posters and information to keep parents fully informed about the application and transition process.
How do your settling in sessions work?
We offer a structured three-session settling in process designed for a gentle transition:
Session 1 (1 hour): The parent stays with the child to meet the key person and complete the 'All About Me' book and necessary paperwork.
Session 2 (2 hours): The child is left for a longer period to build confidence independently.
Session 3 (4 hours): The child stays for an extended session, experiencing a substantial portion of the nursery routine.
If this structure does not suit your family, we are very flexible and can easily adjust and customise the sessions to meet the unique needs of every child and family.
