What makes Kindred Enfield unique?

Kindred Enfield Nursery and Pre-School is a warm and welcoming setting with a real home-from-home feel. Our nursery reflects the local community, with a multicultural team who bring experience, care and knowledge to everything they do.

Our long-standing staff know the children and families well, helping to create a familiar and nurturing environment where every child feels safe, valued and supported. Many of our team speak multiple languages, which helps us build strong relationships with families where English may not be their first language.

Our large garden gives children plenty of opportunities to explore, play and learn outdoors. The toddler garden includes a climbing frame and mud kitchen, giving children space to climb, investigate and enjoy imaginative play. Children also take part in gardening activities, helping to grow herbs, vegetables, flowers and sunflowers. These hands-on experiences encourage curiosity and help children learn how to care for plants and understand the natural world.

Indoors, children enjoy a wide range of creative and sensory experiences, including playdough with feathers, scented cinnamon and vanilla playdough, and cloud dough. Cosy areas, quiet spaces, books, teddy bears and lending libraries also help create calm moments throughout the day and support a love of reading from an early age.

Parent Reviews

  • "My daughter is nearly two years old and has attended since she was 1 year old. She loves it, and has been developing well, talking and counting. She gets excited when passing nursery on her day off and this further confirms to me she is very happy at this nursery. I get updates and pictures showing me what she gets up to, the facilities are vast, inside and out. There are always loads of friendly staff on site to help and answer questions. This year, in particular, I have been very impressed with how fast my daughter is developing and enjoying herself and would highly recommend this nursery."

  • "All the staff are absolutely wonderful. Her key workers are so helpful when it comes to any concerns and work well as a team ensuring mirroring behaivior in both home life and school life. They are both very good with my child, very understanding yet firm when they need to be with her. It has been an absolute pleasure to have them looking after her this past year, and both myself and my daughter will be sad when she leaves for 'big school'. The nursery has a lovely family feel to it, all the staff are so wonderful, always willing to help. I believe my child is now school ready, and that is all down to the amazing staff."

Kindred Enfield Nursery and Pre-School FAQs

How do settling in sessions work?

We take a flexible and personalised approach to settling in, focusing on the needs of each child and family. Our aim is to help every child feel safe, confident and ready to begin their nursery journey.

First Session: We usually begin with a one-hour session, where parents or carers spend time in the room with their child and speak with key staff and compleate an All About Me form. This helps us understand your child’s routine, interests, likes, dislikes and individual needs.

Follow-Up Sessions: The second session is usually a stay, play and drop session, giving children the chance to spend a short time in nursery without their parent or carer. The third session is usually a longer drop-off session, helping children become more familiar with the room, team and daily routine.

A Gradual Approach: Sessions usually build from around 1 hour, to 1.5 hours, then 2 to 3 hours for the final session. If a child needs longer to settle, we will adapt the process and work closely with parents to make sure the transition feels calm, positive and reassuring.

How often do the children play outside?

At Kindred Enfield, we make the most of our outdoor space every day, giving children plenty of opportunities to play, explore and learn outside. Children enjoy outdoor time at least twice a day, and we aim to use the garden as much as possible throughout the day.

When the weather is nice, children may also enjoy outdoor dining, including tea in the garden or a teddy bears’ picnic. Outdoor play is an important part of the day, supporting physical development, confidence and wellbeing.

Do you take the children out into the local community?

Our children have opportunities to explore local places, including nearby parks. We also connect outings to the children’s learning, such as visiting Tesco’s Little Chefs Club to choose ingredients for cooking activities.

These experiences help bring learning to life, giving children the chance to build confidence, learn about their local community and make connections between nursery experiences and the world around them.

What are your staff to child ratios and how do you ensure safety?

We are committed to providing the highest standard of care and attention for every child, with safety as our top priority. Our staff-to-child ratios strictly adhere to and, in some cases, exceed UK regulations to ensure a secure, nurturing, and engaging environment.

Our regulated ratios are as follows:

Babies (Under 2 years): 1 staff member to every 3 children (1:3)

Toddlers (2-3 years): 1 staff member to every 5 children (1:5)

Preschoolers (3-4 years): 1 staff member to every 8 children (1:8)

By maintaining these ratios, we guarantee that each child receives the individual support, supervision, and guidance they need to thrive in a safe and monitored setting.

How do you build relationships with parents?

We build strong relationships with parents through daily handovers, open communication and regular opportunities for families to come into the nursery.

Parents are welcomed into the setting at drop-off and collection, giving them time to speak to staff and share information about their child. We also hold parent evenings, new parent events and workshops, including support around topics such as toilet training.

Family events are a big part of nursery life. We invite families to summer parties, stay-and-play sessions in the garden, story time sessions, Nativity performances and other celebrations throughout the year. These events are very popular and help families meet each other, build friendships and feel part of the nursery community.
